First things first, was choosing what client to design for. I pondered several choices, but ultimately decided on designing a new website for the band Hedley. My main reason for choosing them is that after looking at their current website, I felt inspired to try and re-vamp it. I knew I needed to get my ideas out on paper to unscramble them before I could move to photoshop. I scribbled down the basic components, what things I knew I wanted to include, and decided the rest could come as it started to come to life. Once I moved to photoshop, I built a fairly basic wire frame, knowing that guides would have to be added and/or moved around, depending on what each part required. The numbers on the side of my sketch page demonstrate the rough calculations I was figuring out as I came to needing more guides to make things evenly spaced.
